Alpaca Trekking

Expect the unexpected in Inverness and Loch Ness.

Alpaca adventures

When you think of the Scottish Highlands we are sure you think of Highland cows, red squirrels and stags, but we have another popular resident that can take you on a great outdoors adventure.

Alpaca trekking has become a popular activity and we have a few locations in Inverness and Loch Ness that you can meet and trek with these beautiful calm and inquisitive animals.

Lets tell you more...

You can choose the surroundings in which you want to trek with alpacas, there is a trek along side Loch Ness or on a farm in the wonderful Highland landscapes.

Starting with Loch Ness as your location, you can book a trek with Loch Ness Alpacas. Based near the beautiful and very popular Dores beach, Loch Ness Alpacas have daily treks along the loch shoreline with their beautiful crew. You will learn all about these gorgeous animals, their habits and be able to get up close and feed them. You have the choice of a 30 minute meet and greet or a 50 minute trek.

If stunning Highland scenery and meeting other farm animals is more your thing, you need to take a visit to Invercannich Farm. Based in the beautiful Strathglass area, at foothills of Glen Affric you can take an hours trek with their alpaca boys and meet all the other farm animals along the way, including Pygmy Goats, Free Range Chickens, Rare Breed Pigs and yes, Highland cows!

Invercannich Farm also offer a meet, greet and feed option for 30 minutes.

Closer to Inverness and as seen on BBC's This Farming Life you can pay a visit to Farm Ness.

As well as meeting their alpacas, there is loads to keep the kids... and adult kids occupied! Meet the Highland Cows, pygmy goats, alpacas, rare breed pigs and bunny rabbits.

Have a bounce on the Jelly bean inflatable trampoline where 30 people can bounce at once.

Let little ones be a farmer for the day and ride the pedal tractors, jump in and on the straw bales and enjoy mud kitchens and sand pits.

Enjoy their own beef, straight off the farm by buying fresh from the shop or have it hot from the street food truck. All the food is from local farms surrounding Inverness and Loch Ness.
