Beautiful Gardens Around Inverness and Loch Ness

During the Summer Loch Ness and Inverness gardens are lush and green. They’re looking their best, with amazing displays of colourful flowers and hardy Highland plants.

Green-fingered visitors are spoilt for choice when looking for gardens to visit in our area.

Cawdor Castle and Gardens

For beautiful, formal gardens including hidden fountains and woodland walks, look no further than the gardens of Cawdor Castle between Inverness and Nairn.

Cawdor Castle itself is a must-see visitor attractions, but the amazing gardens make it even more special. You can spend hours wandering around the trails and exploring the different areas of the gardens. Or, just relax on a bench under one of the grand, ancient trees.

Over the summer months, don’t miss the open-air plays that are staged in the castle grounds. Bring a picnic and enjoy classic Shakespeare or a modern, family-friendly play.

Dunrobin Castle Gardens

One of the best parts of a visit to Dunrobin Castle is exploring with wonderful gardens. The castle is magnificent, but walk out onto the terraces and down to the grounds and you will discover the most incredible displays of flowers, scrubs, bushes, roses and trees.

Whilst you are there you can nip into the museum and you must watch one of the brilliant falconry displays that take place regularly through the day on the lawn.

Abriachan Nurseries

For a different garden experience that will introduce you to local plants and flowers in a beautiful woodland setting with views over Loch Ness, head for Abriachan Nurseries on the shores of the famous loch.

You will find a mix of native and exotic plants that you can take home with you. That’s if you live close enough, of course.

This garden has a wilder feel to it, which is fitting for the wild landscape of the Highlands!

Inverness Botanic Gardens
